Every time I have seen an interview conducted with an inmate in a maximum security prison, the inmate was wearing a prison uniform. Why then, in this 60 Minutes segment on the Chiquita Brands paramilitary payment scandal is Salvatore Mancuso, a man with copious amounts of blood on his hands, wearing a business suit in an interview with Steve Kroft?
Of course the question is purely rhetorical. We know why Mancuso is treated in a manner unlike other prisoners in Colombia. The segment I linked to is worth watching the rather facile and extremely incomplete view of what's going on in Colombia notwithstanding.
That Chiquita segment was fascinating. It was something I knew little about, and, even if it was incomplete, it's more than most Americans knew at all.
