Department of Unintentional Irony and Bad Timing

I opened my emails this morning and found one from my Senator, Dianne Feinstein. She (belatedly) is thanking me for contacting her during the AG Mukasey judicial committee hearings pleading that she vote against his confirmation. (I called every one of her offices in California and DC berating her likely pro-Mukasey vote.) The email was standard Senatorial boilerplate directed at constituents. It included a ton of documentatioin, including DiFi's statements on Mukasey at the time of his confirmation hearings. The gist of all this was her conviction that Mukasey would be an "independent" Attorney General with "zero tolerance" on torture. Frankly, my appeals to Feinstein on this issue had receded into the edges of memory, but getting this "thank you" in the wake of the now-Attorney General's stonewalling Congress on their investigation into the CIA "torture tapes" reminded me of just how wrong Feinstein was on Mukasey. I'm pissed off at her all over again...

I agree with you. This lady has worn out her welcome as one of our Senators, as far as I'm concerned. She, like Lieberman, has morphed into a crypto-Repub.....
