By now you've heard of the OpEd piece in the TIMES by those NCOs from the 82nd describing everyday life in Iraq as seen from a grunt's eye level. Lets just say their perspective differs somewhat from that of messers O'Hanlon and Pollack who had a similiar piece a few weeks earlier. The analysis by the two Brookings Foreign Policy mavens created quite a stir. Within the week of its publication the two authors were, individually or together, seen on just about every broadcast news outlet around as well as the cable people. So what about the GI's? Well so far they have been mentioned on a lot of the blogs and on MSNBC's "First Read" and TIME's "Swampland." And that's it. But I'm sure that is just an oversight.
Meanwhile we now know when General Petreaus will deliver his report to the nation - you know, the one being written for him in the White House. The good General will give Congress the good news on Tuesday, Sept 11 of this year.
Sept 11. I'm sure that date is a just a coincidence.
