So President Bush read Camus' The Stranger (a book most culturally literate people read in high school or college). Better late than never I suppose.
I have some book recommendations for him now and expect to have some more over the next few weeks. For today, I'll recommend the following to start:
Dispatches, by Michael Herr, so that he can read about just how hellish war is and what better war for him to learn from than the war he weaseled out of.
The Massacre at El Mozote, by Mark Danner so that he may realize how, despite attempts to hide the truth, it will come out eventually. He can also gain knowledge about some of the truly vile acts committed by the side that the administration his father served as vice-president and supported zealously.
More to come.
