I was pleasantly surprised to read today that Hector Timerman, the son of Jacobo Timerman, is the Consul General at the Argentine Consulate here in New York.
I met Timerman very briefly many, many years ago while working for a lecture agency. My neighborhood has a significant Argentine emigre community (especially visible during the World Cup) and one wonders as the Gallegos from Spain spread far and wide in seeking to better their lives in the last century, one wonders if the Argentines will be this century's Gallegos.
You must live in SoHo, Randy! Did you see any of the World Cup games at the Brazilian cafe (name escape me) near Spring Street? Muy intense!
