Ahh, the wonders of Google. I did a search using the names of Nat Hentoff, the renowned writer and civil libertarian and Ann Sparanese, the moral relativist and opponent of the independent librarians in Cuba, and apparently the ALA's most public defender of dictators.
I came up with some good links. Here's a compilation of responses, including some by Sparanese, on the ALA's International Responsibilities Task Force. I also found the weblog of Karen Schneider, the librarian and ALA Council member who introduced the resolution that Hentoff referenced here. Throw some page views her way. Feel free to comment. On some of the posts regarding Cuba you can even find comments by Ms. Sparanese.
Akaky, you are not alone.
