Celia Cruz and Compay Segundo

I would also be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the recent passing of Celia Cruz and Compay Segundo this week. The music world is a little dimmer with their passing.

Cruz choose exile over oppression and enjoyed a successful career, but was never able to return to her beloved Cuba. Segundo chose to remain in Cuba, but his career suffered for it until Ry Cooder rediscovered his music for The Buena Vista Social Club. The tragedy is that either one of them had to make such a choice.
