Along with Boz and Mr. Trend, I am also mourning the passing of former Argentine president, Raul Alfonsin. Alfonsin was the first post-junta president and a man of enormous good will whose term in office was hampered by the economic mess the junta left him, made worse by his successor, the wretched Carlos Menem.
In 1983 my Amnesty International group was working on prisoner of conscience cases on behalf of several of the disappeared. Alfonsin's election was a source of unbridled joy for us. Rest in peace.
